Industry Project is an MA UX Service & MSc UX Design module which involves small teams of students working on a creative problem-oriented brief with a partnering organisation.
The aim of the Industry Project module is to introduce students to the professional world through tackling an industry set brief and delivering an evidence-based and meaningful design outcome for a sponsoring organisation. The students master professional collaboration, communication, and reflection skills and supports their development towards becoming a professional designer. Industry partners create the briefs with support from the school and present these to the students. In response to the briefs, the student teams work collaboratively and creatively, with intermittent interactive sessions with the company. The students ultimately present their responses directly to their briefing company.
“Seeing the teams tackle the briefs we set has been a real joy. The team were truly blown away by the thoroughness and precision in the student’s responses to our briefs. This speaks volumes about not just their team spirit but also the quality of instruction they’ve received from their lecturers. Bravo!”Trainline
“This is the second year we have collaborated with Loughborough University. Once, again, we have been very impressed with the standard of work that has been delivered, both throughout the module and the final presentations. Each group strove to fully understand the design brief and presented back real tangible opportunities.”SCS
“The Customer Experience team at Sainsbury’s are always really impressed with the quality of the student’s work and thinking, each year we work with Loughborough University. It’s always a pleasure for our design team to work with the staff and students in the Design School and our team gets so much from supporting the students through their industry projects.”Sainsbury’s
